I will still cry at the Last Concert of the year...

Drox had his last concert tonight... he was supposed to test for green belt but if he missed the concert it not only affected his grade drastically, it would mean he could not be IN choir next year. Took him 2 weeks to decide NOT to ditch the concert in favor of karate, seriously. Silly thing is, his sensei is an elementary school teacher by day and would never have wanted him to ditch. Make up testing is available, (not as much fun and Drox claims it is harder since all eyes are on you) and is meant for reasons like ~ the final concert is on the same night at the same time a city away!

The concert was awesome. Drox is a bass in a capella choir. I had no idea one of their songs was "Give me Jesus". He had told me about all the others they were performing but never mentioned that one. It was amazing. It crescendos near the end with harmonies that make your heart ache and swell simultaneously.
The seniors put together a slide show for the choir teacher that was very touching. This is the first year for his high school so everything this year is a first and they played heavily on that theme. More than a third of the seniors in choir are in our ward so I recognized lots of the people in the slide show ;-Þ Drox is wearing a shirt from his former high school in one picture. He is in 2 or 3 that are group shots of kids in our ward. Five of the senior boys are in his priest's quorum - really great kids, and one just got his mission call last week to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, leaves 26 August. This has turned out to be a good year for Drox.
DRUM ROLL - he got his bagpipes Monday so he is the happiest and noisiest 16 year old on our block! Pictures to follow, when I am NOT up past midnight on a work night... Buh and Drox are at the midnight showing of Terminator, Le is NOT happy with me. All of his choir friends went to Shari's and then the midnight showing of the new Night at the Museum. He and I went from the concert to our d&d group and they were headed to Terminator... I caved.
