I will learn to ask "When?"

Ddonn called as I was headed for the shower, I was talking to George and came out to the computer to see the Owl Posts (elcidandgirls.blogspot.com), was handed off to Ddonn and then someone knocked on my front door.
I knew the trailer was going to the dump today but had never asked "when" ;-}

So, the nice brother hauling it away has a new image of me, housedress, computer glasses, bare foot etc. but what a Great way to start the day! For ME not him.
Now, to the shower and my room, done by lunch anyone? Any takers? What do you mean I taught you not to bet?! (especially on a long shot!) Whatever!
Buh suggested last night that I shut down the master bathroom - and my closet, but I think the hanging stuff will need to stay there til Friday - close the door(s) and have more "finished" areas like JE's room will be as soon as it is vacuumed. Good idea

I will change my age on the right day!

I have had a beautiful birthday.
We had breakfast at Denny's (Buh, Tiney, Drox, Matey and I) went shopping and I now have Sunday shoes ;-} dropped Tiney and Matey at the house, picked up a little friend of Drox's, picked up TJ and went to 17 Miracles. I loved it.
Dropped off our guests and got home in time to play with Matey while Tiney made a fabulous dinner - roast, yorkshire pudding, broccoli with a yummy cheese sauce, divinity that decided to exercise its right NOT to be divinity and we totally forgot the Barq's!!!

There is always tomorrow, the second day of my 58th year ;-Þ

I fit in some indexing (Family Search), we rented Rango (Redbox) and enjoyed it even more with Matey than in the theater without him! and watched Tiney's favorite - Fantasia.
Once again, I am late to bed. A dangerous practice with a two year old in the house :-o

Found it!

Drox's birthday will still fall between Christmas and New Years

and when his dad doesn't have him for that week I will fight the guilt of NOT celebrating until his due date, 4 February.
Wasn't a big deal when he was little but as he hit 'milestones' the party day couldn't quite fill the bill! He was baptized and confirmed ON 29 Dec 2000, his 8th birthday, turning 12 was another case where the party day lost its fizz... and 14... and 16 because Deacon, Teacher and Priest are all age "things" (i.e. events).
Today it is only a "problem" because his father and brother WJ are both ill and unable to be out camping in the subfreezing hills - Plan A.
SO, his oldest brother and his not girlfriend* are taking him to see "Avatar" and we will go from there.
Holly* was gone for a week so I am not sure if the movie stands a chance... he will be able to see it again when they take me. (Unless I get impatient and go see it on my own without them!!!)
So, my grey hair is more valid by the moment... my 'baby' is 17 which means he will continue to "catch up" with his older siblings at an increasing rate ;-} xoxoxox

I will discover that birthday dinners/lunches can go on all week!

Red Robin last night with Buh and Le was wonderful. The hostess who seated us was absolutely delightful, our server was personable and attentive but not overly, the Birthday "song" was an Army PT style 'chant' enthusiastically rendered and she brought 3 spoons with MY dessert sundae which B&L thoroughly approved of - very enjoyable, I can't wait to go back!

Cherry jam on the agenda today, borrowed a waterbath canner from my daughter-in-law on the way home last night so TJ's is ready to return to her and we are hoping to hear back this morning on a dehydrator to borrow~ although I would love to own one!~ Le is into borrowing until we are sure we can justify purchasing our own. She has a friend willing to loan long term, IF the brand new dehydrator in question can be located. . .

There is a marvelous new video of Matey up on his mommy's blog today. . . have to get someone to show me how to link to it!

SO, I made chunky cherry syrup. Haven't unpacked the candy thermometer yet and did the drop in cold water test and apparently was a bit optimistic about the drop being firm as opposed to almost firm but still soft...
Le's co-worker found his dehydrator and she loaded it with my halved cherries so they are drying as I type.
Buh now has an Idaho Driver's License... I had to sign an affidavit that he lives here, he didn't know to bring a piece of mail with him and Le and I didn't think to ask 'im ;-}
Found cukes on the doorstep when we got home - thank you TJ! - and Brent ran all but the bitter one thru the slicer so he can make pickles ;-} The "make your own" bug is contagious!

I will have increasing input in how my birthday is celebrated... or will I ?

I had a wonderful time celebrating the completion of 55 years since my birth (two weeks "late" in HOT southern California, my poor mom!)
Things I did but didn't expect...
Help Le catch Elvis (he chose to crow removing all doubt as to his gender) to give away to a good home
Spent an hour with my stepson and daughter-in-law and awesome grandchildren here
Worked at the office an hour +
Lunch at Chronic Tacos with Buh
Spent an hour getting my driver's license renewed - who knew it expired THIS year ! ! !
Came straight home from the DMV - Buh left his lunch in the car and I had NO cooler for it
Visit with Aunt Sandy by phone for almost an hour ! ! !
Went to dinner at Sizzler with Le (NOT a meat person!)
Was wished Happy Birthday from "the top of Old Faithful" (by Ddonn and Co)
Went up 3 levels on Peggle Deluxe (don't tell Buh, I'm ahead of him - ready for our next duel!)
Talked to Beki and Dan about just idle stuff... important but non agenda chatting
Things I expected to do but didn't get to
Call Aunt Tammy for her address - I have her card and reading it over the phone to her hardly delivers the effect it arriving in her mailbox would give! Happy Birthday Tammy! I miss you.
Work from 9:30 - 10:30 (10:35 - 11:55 is kinda close, it IS still morning)
Lunch at Red Robin with Buh - when you run late DON'T forget the coupon ! ! !
Shop leisurely by myself - DI, JoAnn's, maybe Costco or a clothing store or two (it is rude to laugh at your mother! I didn't say I would BUY clothes)
Stop at the Library, alone, just me . . . sit and read . . .
Visit with TJ (instead we played loser phone tag for 8+ hours)
Spend time with Drox... he is on his second High Adventure this summer, moving has plus-es

Birthdays... won't really bother me.

Because I always looked younger than I was, I have never lied about my age... my problem was getting people to believe I was old enough to do whatever it was I wanted to do. Now that I am 54, 55 next month, it comes in handy because most folks cut me slack for being old ;-} Going grey early helps the illusion.
Except my boss who thought I was 60! Something about my having been married to his father and his mom is 61 so by default, I must be close to the same age. Yeesh! If that were true he ought to be easier on me on the job, eh?
I was waiting to post until I could put on one of the pictures we took on Mother's Day but Drox and I cannot find the camera anywhere and my son-in-law posted about his mother's birthday and her professed age... 29 1/2 and I was suddenly inspired to post anyway!
Ddonn is at Tiney's, Tiney is getting way more rest - and is getting her hair done tomorrow ! ! ! Matey is learning that structure actually makes for a happier life and Ddonn gets to drive a BIG pickup... I think thePirate is doing fine also (that'd be SPC, but since he is at the NCO academy I may be changing his name anyway)

I will still have birthdays!

And they will continue to get tamer and tamer. My favorite part has to be the singing! If I were trickier I would have been saving recordings of the "Happy Birthday to You" 's over the years ;-}

Couldn't sleep and it is too early to make noise... the joys of apartment living ;-Þ

Besides being totally off schedule things are progressing, Tiney and Spc helped make a BIG dent in box arrangement and the kitchen ! ! ! Thank you, thank you and again THANK YOU!

Changing my age and then back to see if I can sleep til 0700 when it is legal to make noise!

all of my decisions will be accepted by my children...

including, but not limited to, the unpopular ones that don't make sense... even to me!

Drox and I are equally unhappy about packing to move but SOMEONE has to do it!
