Life will move along without any help (or notice) from me!

According to Ddonn's blog we are setting a record for no rain - I have just been enjoying the cooler but not really humid weather... This morning looked greyer but no rain!

We have had a LONG day...
everyone up and doing 'stuff' at 0700
took lunch to Grandma Sandy and Aunt Jennie
Grammy napped while Mommy and Aunt Jennie visited
Saars
Safeway... where Grammy sat in the food area with the sleeping boy while mommy shopped alone
Grammy used smelly paper to get the charcoal going but managed to cook the pork chops and hotdogs just fine
Read a little more of Summer Knight (Dresden Files) while eating
Then Matey slept in my arms from 1950 (7:50pm) until 2205 when his mommy went to bed and had me lay him by her...still asleep... she got a lot done: dishwasher, shower, hair, talk to Daddy on the phone, sort laundry, etc but I am a bit concerned that in the wee hours HE is going to be WIDE awake and Grammy will get a surprise visitor to 'party' with while Mommy sleeps! ;-}
Shower is calling me... don't use a hamburger helper box to get the charcoals going - yeesh!

Thirty two years have passed since I shared a room with 5 other new moms and wondered WHEN they were going to let me see my baby~I saw him twice for 15 minutes each in the first two days~and only one of the moms spoke English, she and her husband planned to emigrate to Canada so they had learned and she was eager to practice, and I was suffering a gall bladder attack but no one thought to check for that answer to the pain for another 8 years!
But we survived it all, and now we have a new baby that has never left his mom and dad for the first six days of his life and is settling into an eating and sleeping and fussing pattern that lets everyone get a surprising amount of sleep! Go Matey!

So, what are the chances mommy and daddy even turn the TV on? The basket is full of baby clothes for 'later' - current ones are in drawers in the closet... thought we had two more weeks to sort things and get them packed to take home ;-}
Short and private walk for mommy in the middle of the night
We'll find out if the prop job below is too little, too much or the proverbial "just right". The bed is up on wooden blocks and Tiney smacked her toe on one... the pirate immediately wrapped them (this one in sweat pants) to make it 'safe' for her to navigate even in the dark.
He has lots of plus points with HIS mother-in-law, great guy- thoughtful, patient, hardworking, loves Tiney and Matey, a keeper ;-}
Leaving for work is much harder than it sounds! Le managed and I had better get a move on!
Daddy and I re-arranged the master bedroom, propped up the head of the bed, added 'cush' under the mattress pad, vacuumed, swept and mopped the master bath (and the kitchen and auxilliary bath) got stray boxes out to the garage, etc and hope to get mommy and baby moved from the living room to the more private, self-contained master 'suite'.

Had to correct that last post, fatigue is my only excuse

Wil was 8lbs 10oz and she was my biggest out of 6. Tiney is an overachiever- starting out with an 8/8! He is 20 1/2 inches and really looks like he weighs less than 8lbs... this boy is muscular already. He is willing to nurse both sides and next to his mommy is his favorite place to be. His daddy holds him like an expert, totally relaxed, entranced and can't stop smiling at his boy!
His profile looks like his daddy with his mommy's mouth. The pirate's nose and brow line... his hair is light brown but his eyebrows and eyelashes are so pale blond they are 'invisible'. His mouth is definitely mommy's with a "pouty" top lip. His dad takes credit for the fuller bottom lip but once Uncle Drox gets home, daddy may have to re-evaluate the gene pool, both sides have that trait ;-}
Drox was shipped off to his cousin's and just called to ask if he can come home. Told him sure, we need someone not exhausted with muscles to do all the work. Then I mentioned he could help me with the kitchen first and he suddenly announced his cousins could NOT bring him home just now. Smack that boy!
I am holding Matey while his mommy uses the facilities, he managed to scratch his left cheek - kind of a faint imitation of the "dashing scar" his daddy claims would enhance his own "shipwrecked pirate" image. Boys! yeesh!

2235 still on her knees, head on the edge of the tub,

the pirate massaging her neck, Le pouring water from a cup across her shoulders.
Called Drox and told him NOT to come home. He is on his way here as a matter of fact, good timing Le! She told me to call him ;-} He will call to let me know what he works out.
The kitchen is like a sauna, btw. Fern Gully ended and the TV is off.
Midwife and assistant gloved, pressure on her lower back is prompting the "push". Someone pushing against her lower back is apparently needed to make it bearable. She is doing an amazing job! Absolutely amazing.

We are at the long sustained 'ahhhon' stage

Lights are down low and only murmurs of "you're doing good Tiney" "good work Tiney" "you are doing great for the baby Tiney" are heard... until my phone went off in mid contraction and I got death looks as I fled the room! 2156 and my phone is set on vibrate now.

Fern Gully is playing on the TV, Tiney let the pirate choose the second movie, but even he only glances over his shoulder at it occasionally.
TJ agreed to pick up Buh from work, I ain't leaving in an hour to get him if I can help it - and I am the most expendable person here!

It is 8:11pm (2011) mountain daylight time and mommy... and therefore daddy and all attendents... are watching "Muppet Christmas Carol"


2053 contractions are closer together and stronger and daddy accidentally asked a question as a contraction started and mommy snapped a sharp "Shut up!" before he realized his timing stunk -oops. As all fell silent the muppets were singing, "the love is gone..." I did NOT make that up.

Aye, matey... time to leave the watery world behind

and set sail into the world of air, farflung horizons and wild adventures!

WE are having a baby. Tiney is doing all the work, the midwife is sleeping on the living room couch, the pirate is on his way... 8 hours of driving ... and Drox is safely out the door on the pre-date for prom. I, the lovely assistant, am doing laundry, putting a roast in the crockpot and being very quiet whilst everyone else gets LOTS of sleep in preparation for the coming event ;-Þ
